Richard, known as "the Good", was born in Normandie.  "the Good"'s father was Duke Richard ("the Fearless", "Sans Peur") I of Normandy and his mother was Gunnora Haraldsdottir de Crepon.  His paternal grandparents were Duke William ("Longsword", "Longue Epaee") I of Normandy and Esprista de Senlis; his maternal grandfather was King Harald II ("the Dane", "Bluetooth") Gormsson of Denmark and his maternal grandmother is Princess Gunhilda Olafsdottir of Sweden. He had four brothers and four sisters, named William, "Curthose", Mauger, Godfrey, Hawise, Beatrix, Emma and Beatrice. He had a half-brother and five half-sisters, named William Hieme, Muriella, Pappia, Fredistina, Susannah and Alix.  He died in Fâecamp, Normandie.  He was buried in Fâecamp, Normandie.

‌"the Good" and Judith were married in a religious ceremony about 1000 in Normandie, France.  They had five sons and four daughters, named William Poincius, Richard, "le jeune", "the Younger", "the Devil", "the Magnificent", William, Eleanor, Alice, Emme and Adelais Judith.

‌"the Good" and Papie were married in a religious ceremony about 1024 in Normandy, France.  They had two sons and a daughter, named "le jeune", "the Younger", William and Adela.
