Bernhard was born about 0797 in Vermandois, Austrasia.  Bernhard's father was King Pepin ("the Hunchback") IV of Italy and his mother is Bertha de Toulouse de Gellone of Italy.  His paternal grandparents were Emperor Charlemagne of the Holy Roman Empire and Hildegarde of Vinzgau; his maternal grandparents were Count William of Toulouse and Kunnigunde de Austrasia. He had two sisters named Aeda and Theodrate. He had a half-sister named Theodrata.  He died on August 17th, 0818 in Milan, Italy.


Bernhard's family with Kunigunda de Gellone

‌Bernhard and Kunigunda were married in a religious ceremony in 0813.  They had two sons named Bernard Berenger Bayeux and Pepin.
