Pepin, known as "the Short", was born in 0715 in Austrasia, France.  "the Short"'s father was King Charles ("the Hammer") Martel of France and his mother was Chrotrud Treves.  His paternal grandparents were Duke Pepin d'Heristal II of Austrasia and Elphide de Saxonie; his maternal grandfather was Bishop Leutwinus Treves and his maternal grandmother is daughter. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Carloman, Bernard, Hieronmus, Aude, Auda and Landrade. He had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Bernard, Bernard, daughter, Landree and Olba.  He died at the age of 53 on September 24th, 0768 in St. Denis, Paris, Seine, France.


"the Short"'s family with Bertrada ("the Younger/Au Grand Pied", "big foot") II of Laon

‌"the Short" and "the Younger/Au Grand Pied", "big foot" were married in a religious ceremony about 0740.  They had three sons and two daughters, named Charlemagne, der Große, Carloman, Gisella and Redburh.
