His paternal grandparents were Duke William ("Longsword", "Longue Epaee") I of Normandy and Esprista de Senlis; his maternal grandfather was King Harald II ("the Dane", "Bluetooth") Gormsson of Denmark and his maternal grandmother is Princess Gunhilda Olafsdottir of Sweden. He had four brothers and four sisters, named William, Mauger, Godfrey, "the Good", Hawise, Beatrix, Emma and Beatrice. He had a half-brother and five half-sisters, named William Hieme, Muriella, Pappia, Fredistina, Susannah and Alix. He died on March 16th, 1037.General Notes
