Duke Simon de Lorraine I

Simon was born about 1076 in France. Simon's father was Duke Thierry de Lorraine II of Upper Lorraine and his mother was Hedwig von Formbach. His paternal grandparents were Duke Gerard de Lorraine IV and Hedwig de Namur; his maternal grandparents were Count Friedrich von Formbach and Gertruda von Haldensleben of Saxony. He had three sisters named Petronille, Gisela and Petronella. He was the oldest of the four children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Thierry, Lothar and Petronille or Gertrude. He died on January 14th, 1138.
