Godfrey Barbutus, known as "the Bearded", was born in 1060 in Brabant, Louvain, France.  "the Bearded"'s father was Duke Henry de Brabant II of Lower Lorraine and his mother was Adela von der Betuwe.  His paternal grandparents were Count Lambert II of Louvain or Brabant and Oda de Lorraine; his maternal grandfather is Count Eberhard of the Betuwe.  He was an only child.  He died in Jerusalem, Judah, Israel, Palestine.


"the Bearded"'s first family with Ida de Namur

‌"the Bearded" and Ida were married in a religious ceremony in 1100.  They had a son and two daughters, named Godfrey, Adeliza of Louvain and Ida.


"the Bearded"'s second family with Clemence de Lombardy of Burgundy

They had a son and a daughter, named Joscelain and "The Fair Maid of Brabant".
