Lambert, known as "the Bearded", was born about 0952 in Louvain, Brabant, Belgium.  "the Bearded"'s father was Count Regnier III of Hainault and his mother was Adele von Ringelheim of Louvain & Toxandrie.  His paternal grandfather was Count Regnier II of Hainault and his paternal grandmother is Adelaide de Burgundy; his maternal grandfather was Lambert von Ringelheim and his maternal grandmother is von Betuwe. He had a brother named Regnier.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died  due to killed in battle on November 12th, 1015 in Florennes.

‌"the Bearded" and Gerberge were married in a religious ceremony in Florrenes.  They had three sons and two daughters, named Henry, Lambert, Reginald, Landrade and Mahaut.
