Regnier, known as "Longhals", was born in 0860 in Luxembourg.  "Longhals"'s father was Count Giselbert de Maasgau of Brabant and his mother was Princess Ermengarde of Lorraine.  His paternal grandparents are Giselbert de Maasgau and Bertswinda de Hesbaye; his maternal grandparents were Emperor Lothair I and Empress Ermengarde of Tours. He had a brother named Adalbert.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died at the age of 55 on October 15th, 0915 in Meersen, Palatine, Netherlands.

They had a son and three daughters, named Regnier, Simphoriane, Alberade and Gerberge.

They had a daughter named Kunigunde.
