Theobold, known as The Troubador Prince, was born in 1177 in Champagne, France.  The Troubador Prince's father was Count Henry ("the Liberal") de Champagne I and his mother was Princess Mary Capet of France.  His paternal grandparents were Count Theobold IV (II) of Blois and Princess Maud von Sponheim of Carinthia; his maternal grandparents were King Louis ("the Younger") Capet VII of France and Princess Eleanor of Aquitaine. He had a sister named Mary.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died at the age of 24 in 1201.

‌The Troubador Prince and Blanche were married in a religious ceremony on July 1st, 1199.  They had a son named Theobald.
