Baldwin, known as "the Pious", was born in 1002 in Flanders.  "the Pious"'s father was Count Baldwin ("Fairbeard", "le Barbu") de Flanders IV and his mother was Otgive de Luxembourg.  His paternal grandparents were Count Arnolph II of Flanders and Princess Susanna de Iwill of Italy; his maternal grandfather was Frederic I of Luxembourg and his maternal grandmother is Ermentrude of Gleiberg. He had two brothers and a sister, named "le Fleming", Arnold and Ermengarde. He had a half-sister named Judith.  He died at the age of 65 on September 1st, 1067 in Lille, Duchy Of Lower.  He was buried in Lille, Duchy Of Lower.


"the Pious"'s family with Princess Adelaide Capet

‌"the Pious" and Adelaide were married in a religious ceremony about 1028 in Paris, Seine, France.  They had two sons and a daughter, named "the Peaceable", "de Fries" and Matilda.
