Otto, known as "the Great", was born on November 23rd, 0912 in Saxony, Germany.  "the Great"'s father was Emperor Henry ("the Fowler") I and his mother was Saint Matilda of Ringelheim.  His paternal grandparents were Duke Otto ("le Grand", "the Illustrious) von Erlauchten of Saxony and Princess Hedwige of the Holy Roman Empire; his maternal grandparents were Count Theodoric von Ringelheim and Reginhild von Friesland. He had a brother and four sisters, named "the Quarrelsome", Oda, Hedwige, Gerberga and Gerberge Auceps.  He died at the age of 60 on May 7th, 0973 in Memleben, Saxony, Germany.


"the Great"'s first family with Princess Eadgyth of England

‌"the Great" and Eadgyth were married in a religious ceremony in 0930.  They had three daughters named Wichberg, Richilde and Liutgard.

They had a son named Otto.
