Hedwige was born about 0922 in Saxony, Germany.  Hedwige's father was Emperor Henry ("the Fowler") I and her mother was Saint Matilda of Ringelheim.  Her paternal grandparents were Duke Otto ("le Grand", "the Illustrious) von Erlauchten of Saxony and Princess Hedwige of the Holy Roman Empire; her maternal grandparents were Count Theodoric von Ringelheim and Reginhild von Friesland. She had two brothers and three sisters, named "the Great", "the Quarrelsome", Oda, Gerberga and Gerberge Auceps.  She died on May 10th, 0965 in Aachen, Rheinland, Prussia.  She was buried on May 10th, 0965.

‌Hedwige and "the Great" were married in a religious ceremony before September 14th, 0938 in Mainz Oder, Ingelheim, Rhineland, Germany.  They had three daughters named Beatrix, Beatrix and Beatrix.
