Alix was born in Vermandois, Neustria.  Alix's father was Count Herbert II of Vermandois and her mother was Princess Adela of France.  Her paternal grandfather was Count Herbert de Vermandois I of Senlis and her paternal grandmother is Beatrice de Morvois; her maternal grandparents were King Robert I of France and Queen Beatrice de Vermandois. She had three brothers and two sisters, named "the Pious", Robert, Robert, Ledgarde and Luitgarda.  She died on October 10th, 0960 in Bruges, Aquitaine.  She was buried in Abbaye De St Pierre, Gand, Flandres.

‌Alix and "the Great" were married in a religious ceremony in Flanders, Belgium.  They had a son and three daughters, named Baldwin, Elstrude, Hildegarde and Ledgarde.
