Adalbert, known as "the Pious", was born about 0915 in Vermandois, Neustria.  "the Pious"'s father was Count Herbert II of Vermandois and his mother was Princess Adela of France.  His paternal grandfather was Count Herbert de Vermandois I of Senlis and his paternal grandmother is Beatrice de Morvois; his maternal grandparents were King Robert I of France and Queen Beatrice de Vermandois. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Robert, Ledgarde, Alix and Luitgarda.  He died on September 7th, 0978 in St. Quentin, Flandres.  He was buried in St. Quentin, Flandres.


"the Pious"'s family with Princess Gerberge de Lorraine

‌"the Pious" and Gerberge were married in a religious ceremony before 0954 in France.  They had a son and a daughter, named Herbert and Gisela.
