Josceus, known as "le Fleming", was born in Flanders. "le Fleming"'s father was Count Baldwin ("Fairbeard", "le Barbu") de Flanders IV and his mother was Otgive de Luxembourg. His paternal grandparents were Count Arnolph II of Flanders and Princess Susanna de Iwill of Italy; his maternal grandfather was Frederic I of Luxembourg and his maternal grandmother is Ermentrude of Gleiberg. He had two brothers and a sister, named "the Pious", Arnold and Ermengarde. He had a half-sister named Judith. He died in Cukeney, Nottinghamshire, England.
