Her paternal grandparents were Count Arnolph II of Flanders and Princess Susanna de Iwill of Italy; her maternal grandfather was Frederic I of Luxembourg and her maternal grandmother is Ermentrude of Gleiberg. She had three brothers named "the Pious", "le Fleming" and Arnold. She had a half-sister named Judith.
