Mary
Grace
68
68
Mary is the illegitimate daughter of Ann Grace. William Balshaw (grocer) may not be her father, but instead another William (a coal miner).
When she married, Mary recorded her father as William Grace, miner and was living at 13 Hawkinson Street, Wavertree. It could be her father was a William and a grocer, not a miner, who died soon after her parents married.
In April 1861, Mary Grace (5, daughter) was with mother Ann and step-father William Bolshaw (a grocer's assistant). They had just married 10th February and were living at Highfield Road, West Derby.
Ann and new husband John Potter were still there in 1864 when son James was born.
The marriage didnt last long. William Bolshaw died in 1862 and Ann remarried the following year.
In 1883, Mary maried William Gore. Mary's father was William Grace, a miner.

Both her marriage record shows Ann was the daughter of Thomas Grace, a miner.
James and John's birth certs (attcfhaed) shows his Ann as "Ann Potter, Late Balshaw, formerly Grace (or Grease)".
In 1841, "Nancy" (12) was with her father Thos (36), grandmother Mary (56) and sisters Mary, Betty and Alice (9,7 & 5). Her mother had died ca 1837.
In 1851, Ann Grace was a servant at the Derby Arms, Lane Ends, aged 21, born Tarbock. She was living with William and Ellen Turton (37 & 40) and daughters, wheelwright and publican. Could he be the illegitimate father of Mary? Well probably not as he's not a miner and that wouldnt explain the DNA matches.
In 1864, John and Ann were living at 18 Highfield Road, West Derby when James was born.

John
Woodward
John, a cooper, and his "wife" Charlotte had son William Henry Alexander Woodward baptised at Liverpool St Paul in 1808. However, they didnt marry until 1810.
7 Jul 1810, John Woodward, Cooper & Charlotte Symcock (or Syrrock), spinster were married by Banns at Trinity Church, Liverpool.
John must have died about 1820 as his widow Charlotte married James Smithson at Liverpool St Paul in April 1822.

There is another Thomas Grace, MMN = FARRELL also born late 1873 in Liverpool (and 11 others in the UK 1872-74).
Thomas Grace was an illegitimate son of Mary Grace, born 23 Oct 1873. His mother didnt marry William Gore for another 10 years, so it is unlikely William is his father.
