George was born in 1819 in Hanley (Staffs).1  George's father was George Rhodes and his mother was Mary Timmis.  His maternal grandparents were Richard Timmis and Mary Hall. He had two brothers and a sister, named John, Charles and Anne.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 65 in 1884.



George's family with Ellen Pollitt

‌George and Ellen were married in a religious ceremony in 1855 in Sandbach.2   They had three sons and a daughter, named William, George, Josiah and Mary.  There are possibly more children.
