John's father was Richard Timmis and his mother was Mary Hall.  His paternal grandparents were John Timmis and Elizabeth Hollins. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Joseph, John, Richard, Ann, Mary and Rhoda.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.  He died due to a childhood disease at the age of 3 in November 1778 in Keele.  He was buried on November 24th, 1778 in Keele.²
