John was born in 1777 in Wybunbury and his baptism took place there on August 31st, 1777.1  John's father was John Timmis and his mother was Mary Walley.  His paternal grandparents were John Timmis and Elizabeth Hollins. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Job, Sally and Elizabeth.  He was the second oldest of the five children. He had three half-brothers named Samuel, John and James.
