Breretons of Audlem (5 miles South of Nantwich) Including: Hankelow, Dodcott, Buerton, Newhall Ann Hale had George's birthday as 8 Feb 1806. Could it be we have the wrong George Brereton, father of Richard Brereton. This Audlem family of Breretons does have a George born 1806, so was investigated further. CDK has a DNA match. The Rev Joseph Brereton had private baptisms for his children, so no index. 1774 - 1862 Elizabeth Salmon 88 88 Aged 88 in 1861, born Blackenhall 1804 - 1845 George Brereton 41 41 16 Mar 1806 John and George were baptised together (although burial records ages suggest they were not twins).  They were both blacksmiths.

29 May 1826, George Brereton a Blacksmith married Sarah Fearns a servant at Acton St Mary.

In 1841, George and Sarah (35 & 42) were at Swanback, Audlem with Edwin (10), Frances (8) and Edward (4).

In 1845, George died, aged 41
1798 Mary Brereton 1800 Nancy Brereton 1800 - 1876 John Brereton 76 76 16 Mar 1806 John and George were baptised together (although burial records ages suggest they were not twins).  They were both blacksmiths.

In 1826, John Brereton had a daughter Mary with Elizabeth Jarvis at Audiem.

In 1830, John Brereton married Mary Topham at Audlem, St· James the Great. His brother George was witness.

In 18i41, John and Mary (both 35) were at Audlem with Thomas (10) and Elizabeth (6)

In 1861, John's father John (94) was still alive at Hankenlow, a Blacksmith.  John and Mary (55 & 51) were also living at Hankenlow.

In 1871, Henry (43) was a Butcher, still at Cox Bank, Audlem, with wife Elizabeth (44) and Edwin (12), John (9), Jane (6), Emma (4), and Eliza (4)

In 1887, wife Elizabeth died.  In 1893, Henry remarried Mary  Evans

In 1901, Henry and Mary (74 & 52) were at Cox Bank, Audlem.

14 May 1807, William Brereton (about 30) married Jane Jones at Audlem.  Jane was about 10 years younger then him.

William and Jane were born in Auflem, 5 miles SW of Wybunbury, both South of Nantwich, so probably not related.

In 1841, William and Jane (60 & 50) were farmers at Wybunbury with their children Mary (15), Lydia (13), Josiah (12) and three servants.

In 1851, William and Jane (74 & 64) were farmers at Village, Wybunbury.

28 Oct 1864, William Brereton (25), a Joiner, son of William Brereton a Miller married Sarah Ann Fleet (21), daughter of Samuel Fleet a Draper at St John, Chester.   Fanny Brereton was his witness.
1843 - 1916 Sarah Ann Fleet 73 73 Sarah Ann was the daughter of Samuel Fleet of Chester, a Draper.

28 Oct 1864, William Brereton (25), a Joiner, son of William Brereton a Miller married Sarah Ann Fleet (21), daughter of Samuel Fleet a Draper at St John, Chester.   Alfred Fleet was her witness

In 1881, Frances was still with her parther, Publicans at Audlem.
1840 - 1846 Henry Brereton 5 5 Henry, like Martha and Harriet beffor him, was baptised at Wenbury, child of William and Elizabeth.  However, he does not appear on the 1851 or 1861 census.

Henry is missing on the 1851 and 1861 census

1 Oct 1784, John and Ellen were from the Parish of Audlem when they married there.  Ellen may have been heavily pregnant as Joseph was born two months later.

All the children's Wybumbury baptism records show their abode as Walgherton, except for George with abode Wybunbury.

In 1820, another Ann married William Foster.  Their witness was George (daughter and son of John and Mary Brassington).

In 1841, John and Ellen (both 80), pauper were living at Wybunbury.  Ellen died at Wybunbury in Jan 1883.  John died at Shavington 2 months later.
1737 - 1810 Samuel Brereton, Jnr 72 72 John's and George's Baptism records refer to Samuel Jun'r, so his hather was also Samuel.

1758, Samuel a Yeoman when married Mary Green at Audlem, and then a Blacksmith
1767 - 1865 John Brereton 98 98 John was from the Blacksmith family, son of Samuel, from Wybunbury.  His brother George was also a Blacksmith.

1 Oct 1784, there was a marriage between John Brereton and Ellen Latham at Audlem.

11 Oct 1795, John Brereton married Elizabeth Salmon at Whitmore, St Mary & All Saints, Staffordshire, England.

In 1841, John and Elizabeth (70 & 60) are at Wrenbury, Audlem

In 1851, John and Elizabeth (84 & 76) are at Hankelow, Nantwich

In 1861, John and Elizabeth (94 & 88) are at Hankelow, Nantwich.  John is a Blacksmith.

Note: There is also Samuel Brereton (a bricklayer, born 1814) who married Hannah Salmon 13 Mar 1838 at Wybunbury.

1862 Elizabeh died and John in 1865.  They are buried together at Audlem.

26 June 1797, Thomas Brereton of Wybunbury married Margaret Hallmark of Chester.

1800-1807, Thomas was from the parish of Hunsterson when his three children were baptised.

in 1841 Thomas Brereton (40) was living with William and Elizabeth and family at Newhall, Wrenbury.

In 1851, Thomas (78, born Hunsterson) was with his daughter Elizabeth (and Richard) Spimson at Newhall, Bunbury.

1815, Margaret, wife of Thomas Brereton died of Hunsterson.  Thomas may then have remarried Jane Brereton, a spinster, in 1818.

In 1851, Thomas (79), was living with his married daughter Elizabeth at Newhall, Bunbury.  He died in 1852 and the death was registeded at Newcastle-under-Lyne, Staffs (12 miles West of Stapeley).

1857, Thomas died at Audlem, aged 81 and is buried at Audlem.

1800 - 1881 William Brereton 81 81 William was the son of John, baprised in 1800 before John the miller married Margaret Colley in 1804 (the only other Brereton marriage at Wrenbury and Margaret also from Broomhall).

From 1830 to 1832, William was a farmer at Broomhall.  Then from 1834 a Miller at Newhall.  All baptisms were at Wrenbury St Margaret.   Wrenbury, Broomhall and Audlem are all located a few miles South of Nantwich.

Was William and Innkeeper?

22 April 1830, William Brereton of Wybunbury married Elizabeth Whittingham by license at Wrenbury, St· Margaret.  Richard Whittingham was witness.

In 1831, after he merried, William was a farmer at Broomhill.  He was later a miller (like his father) before becoming a publican.

In 1841, William and Elizabeth (35 & 30) were living at Newhall, Wrenbury, Acton with Mary (10), Martha (9), Jane (8), Thomas (7), Harriett (6), Elizabeth (5), William (3) and Henry (1).  With them were Thomas Brereton (50) - Father ???

In 1851, William and Elizabeth (51 & 45) were at Audlem with their 6 children.  The first 5 were born at Newhall (near Aston)

In 1861, William and Elizabeth (60 & 56) are Inn Keepers at the High Street, Audlem.  With them are Harried (25), Elizabeth (23), William (21), Ellen (14) and Francis (10).

In 1881, William (80) was still a Publican at Audlem

Wife died: There is a death record 22/3/1867 in the Cheshire Chronicle "BRERETON - 5th inst. at Audlem, Elizabeth, wife of Mr William Brereton, Innkeeper, aged 62 years."

In 1763, Sarah wife of Joseph Brereton died and is buried at Audlem.

1757-1760, Joseph Brereton was the Vicar of Acton by  Nantwich.  Vicar Joseph performed the marriages for John Brereton (1757), Rowland Brereton (1758), and Thomas the son of Randle Breton (1758).

In 1784, Rev Mr Brereton was recorded for land tax at Bisley, Gloucestershire

1791 and 1796 daughters Kitty and Lucy married at Witton St Helen (East Northwich).

8 Jan 1760, Joseph Brereton, Bricklayer of Mucclestone married Sarah Green of Audlem at Audlem.  They lived at Woore, about 5 miles East of Audlem and 4 miles Notth of Mucklestone.

In Oct 1763, Wife Sarah died at Woore and is buried at Audlem.

5 Nov 1764, Joseph Brereton married Elizabeth Thomas at Mucklestone, St Mary, Staffordshire.

From 1820 to 1835 (and beyond), the family where living at Macclesfield (when Harrried and Joseph died).

After their parent death, the family reloaated to Prestbury (where Hannah and Joseph married, both 1826 and Martha in 1828).

In 1841, John, a wood turner, and Martha (35 & 30) were at Pepper Street, Mobberley with assumed son William (13).

In 1851, John and Martha (46 & 42) were still living at Pepper Street, Mobberley with granddaughter Mary Ann (6)

In 1871, John and Martha (66 & 63) were at West Macclesfield  Martha, born Gawsworth, confirms the correct marriage..
