Richard was born in December 1843 in Wrenbury and his baptism took place there on December 25th, 1843.¹

Birth Notes

Richard's father was William Brereton and his mother was Elizabeth Whittingham. His paternal grandparents were John Brereton and Ellen Latham. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Thomas, William, Henry, Mary, Martha, Jane, Harriet, Elizabeth, Ellen and Fanny. He was the third youngest of the eleven children.
