Mary was born in June 1827 in Nannerch and her baptism took place on June 4th, 1827 in Wrenbury.¹²

Birth Notes

Mary's father was William Brereton and her mother was Elizabeth Whittingham. Her paternal grandparents were John Brereton and Ellen Latham. She had four brothers and six sisters, named Thomas, William, Henry, Richard, Martha, Jane, Harriet, Elizabeth, Ellen and Fanny. She was the oldest of the eleven children.
