Hannah was born in May 1793 in Gawsworth and her baptism took place there on May 26th, 1793.1  Hannah's father was John Brereton and her mother was Jane Harrison. She had a brother and eight sisters, named Joseph, Elizabeth, Mary, Elizabeth, Harriet, Jane, Martha, Sarah and Ann.  She was the second oldest of the ten children.
