Elizabeth was born in 1834 in Wrenbury and her baptism took place on December 28th, 1834 in Audlem.1 2  Elizabeth's father was John Brereton and her mother was Mary Topham.  Her paternal grandparents were John Brereton and Elizabeth Salmon. She had a brother named Thomas.  She was the younger of the two children. She had a half-sister named Mary.
