William, known as "The Lion", was born in 1143 in Northumberland.  "The Lion"'s father was Prince Henry Canmore macCrinan of Huntingdon and his mother was Ada de Warren.  His paternal grandparents were King David I of Scotland and Matilda Huntington of Northumberland; his maternal grandparents were Earl William de Warenne II of Surrey and Elizabeth de Crepi. He had a brother and four sisters, named David, Marjory, Ada, Marjory and Margaret.  He died at the age of 71 on December 4th, 1214 in Stirling, Stirlingshire, England.  He was buried in Arbroath Abbey.


"The Lion"'s first family with Ermengarde de Beaumont

‌"The Lion" and Ermengarde were married in a religious ceremony on September 5th, 1186 in Woodstock Palace, Oxford, England.  They had a son and a daughter, named "the Peaceful" and Margaret.


"The Lion"'s second family with Isabel Avenel

‌"The Lion" and Isabel were married in a religious ceremony.  They had two daughters named Aufrica and Isabell Caenmor.
