Lambert was born about 0972 in Lens, Normandy, France.  Lambert's father was Count Eustache of Boulogne and his mother is Mahaut of Louvain.  His paternal grandfather was Count Enricule ("le Petit Arnoul") de Boulogne and his paternal grandmother is Adeline of Holland; his maternal grandfather was Count Lambert ("the Bearded") I of Brabant and his maternal grandmother is Gerberge de Laon. He had a brother and a sister, named Eustace and Gerberge.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died  due to killed during the Battle of Lille in 1054 in Lille, Phalampin, France.
