Charles, known as "the Simple", was born on September 17th, 0879 in Peronne, Somme, Picardie, France.  "the Simple"'s father was King Louis Eliganius ("the Stammerer") II of France and his mother was Adelaide Judith.  His paternal grandparents were Emperor Charles ("the Bald") II and Ermentrude d'Orleans; his maternal grandfather is Adalard. He had three half-sisters named Adâelaèide, Ermengarde and Kunigunde.  He died at the age of 50 on October 7th, 0929 in Peronne, Somme, Picardie, France.  He was buried in St Fursi, Pâeronne, Austrasia.

‌"the Simple" and Edgifu were married in a religious ceremony about 0905 in England.  They had two sons and a daughter, named "Transmarinus", "d'Outre-Mer", Charles and Gisela.

‌"the Simple" and Frederuna were married in a religious ceremony on April 18th, 0907.  They had a daughter named Ermentrude Alpaïs.
