Hugh, known as "the Great", "le Grand", was born in Vermandois, France.  "the Great", "le Grand"'s father was King Henry Capet I and his mother was Anna Agnesa Yaroslavna.  His paternal grandparents were King Robert ("the Pious") Capet II and Constance de Toulouse; his maternal grandparents were Grand Prince Yaroslav ("the Wise") Wladimirowwitsch I and Princess Ingrid Olafsdottir. He had two brothers named "the Fair" and Hugh Magnus.  He died on October 18th, 1102 in Tarsus, , Cilicie.  He was buried in St Paul De Tarse.


"the Great", "le Grand"'s family with Adelaide of Vermandois

‌"the Great", "le Grand" and Adelaide were married in a religious ceremony about 1064 in France.  They had three daughters named Maud, Elizabeth and Constance.
