David was born on July 17th, 1144 in Huntingdon, Huntingdonshire, England.  David's father was Prince Henry Canmore macCrinan of Huntingdon and his mother was Ada de Warren.  His paternal grandparents were King David I of Scotland and Matilda Huntington of Northumberland; his maternal grandparents were Earl William de Warenne II of Surrey and Elizabeth de Crepi. He had a brother and four sisters, named "The Lion", Marjory, Ada, Marjory and Margaret.  He died at the age of 74 on June 17th, 1219 in Jedburgh, Roxburghshire, Scotland.  He was buried in Saltre Abbey, , Huntingdonshire, England.

‌David and Maud were married in a religious ceremony on August 26th, 1190 in Scotland.  They had three daughters named Margaret, Ada and Isabella.
