Matilda was born in Huntingdon, Huntingdonshire, England.  Matilda's father was Earl Waltheof II of Northumberland and her mother is Judith de Boulogne.  Her paternal grandfather was Earl Siward Biornsson of Northumbria and her paternal grandmother is Aelfled of Bernicia; her maternal grandparents were Count Lambert de Boulogne II of Lens and Princess Adâelaèide de Normandie. She had a brother and two sisters, named Huctred, Judith Alice and Alice.  She died on April 23rd, 1131 in Scone, Perthshire, Scotland.  She was buried in Scone, Perthshire, England.

‌Matilda and David were married in a religious ceremony in 1113.  They had a son named Henry Canmore.

‌Matilda and Simon were married in a religious ceremony in Huntingdonshire, England.  They had two sons and three daughters, named Simon, Waltheof fitzSimon, Adelicia, Matilda and Maud.
