Svend, known as "Forked Beard", was born about 0960 in Denmark.  "Forked Beard"'s father was King Harald ("Bluetooth") Gormsson III and his mother is Gyrithe Olafsdotter.  His paternal grandparents were King Gorm ("the Old") of Jutland and Thyri ("Danebod") Klacksdottir; his maternal grandparents are King Olaf ("Mitkg") Bjornsson and Ingeborg Thrandsdatter. He had four sisters named Gunhild, Eva, Thyra and "Sprakling".  He was the second youngest of the five children.  He died on February 2nd, 1014 in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, England.  He was buried in Hellig Trefoldigheds Kirke, Roskilde, Roskilde, Denmark.

‌"Forked Beard" and Gunhilda were married in a religious ceremony.  They had a daughter named Estrid Margarete.
