Simon was born about 1098 in Northamptonshire, England.  Simon's father was Earl Simon de Saint Liz of Northampton and his mother was Matilda Huntington of Northumberland.  His paternal grandfather was Ranulph ("the Rich") de St. Liz and his paternal grandmother is Ermengarde; his maternal grandfather was Earl Waltheof II of Northumberland and his maternal grandmother is Judith de Boulogne. He had a brother and three sisters, named Waltheof fitzSimon, Adelicia, Matilda and Maud. He had a half-brother named Henry Canmore.  He died in August 1153 in Huntington, Huntingdonshire, England.  He was buried in Saint Andrews.


Simon's family with Isabel de Beaumont

‌Simon and Isabel were married in a religious ceremony about 1137 in Leicestershire, England.  They had two sons and a daughter, named William, Simon and Isabel Alice.
