Alix was born in Selby, Yorkshire, England.  Alix's father was King Henry ("Beauclerc", "Fine Scholar") Plantagenet I of England and her mother was Isabel de Beaumont.  Her paternal grandparents were King William ("the Conqueror") I of England and Matilda of Flanders; her maternal grandparents were Robert de Beaumont of Meulan and Elizabeth de Crepi. She had a brother and two sisters, named "the King's Son", Constance Matilda and Joan Elizabeth. She had five half-brothers and nine half-sisters, named Rainald, William, Henry FitzHenry, Haldane, "Strongbow", Lady of the English, "The Empress", Maud, Eustacia, Emme, Sibyl Elizabeth, Annora, Mathilde and Basilia.  She died in 1141 in Montmorency, Val d'Oise, Ile-de-France, France.
