Henry, known as "Beauclerc", "Fine Scholar", was born in September 1068 in Selby, Yorkshire, England.  "Beauclerc", "Fine Scholar"'s father was King William ("the Conqueror") I of England and his mother was Matilda of Flanders.  His paternal grandparents were Count Robert ("the Devil", "the Magnificent") II of Normandy and Herleva de Falaise; his maternal grandparents were Baldwin ("the Pious") de Flanders V and Princess Adelaide Capet. He had three sisters named Gundred, Magdalene and Adela. He had two half-brothers named William and William.  He died at the age of 67 on December 1st, 1135 in St. Denis-le-Fermont, Angers, Maine-et-Loire, France.  He was buried on January 4th, 1136 in Reading Abbey, Reading, Berkshire, England.
