Magdalene was born in Normandy, France.  Magdalene's father was King William ("the Conqueror") I of England and her mother was Matilda of Flanders.  Her paternal grandparents were Count Robert ("the Devil", "the Magnificent") II of Normandy and Herleva de Falaise; her maternal grandparents were Baldwin ("the Pious") de Flanders V and Princess Adelaide Capet. She had a brother and two sisters, named "Beauclerc", "Fine Scholar", Gundred and Adela. She had two half-brothers named William and William.


Magdalene's family with Lord John FitzEustace ('Monoclus/Monoculus') de Burgo of Knaresborough

‌Magdalene and 'Monoclus/Monoculus' were married in a religious ceremony in 1066.  They had a son named Eustace FitzJohn.
