Nesta was born about 1073 in Dynevor, Carmarthenshire, Wales.  Nesta's father was King Rhys ap Tewdwr I of Deheubarth and her mother is Gwladus ap Rhiwallon.  Her paternal grandparents are King Tewdwr ("Mawr"; the Great) ap Cadell of South Wales and Gwenllian verch Gwyn of Anglesea; her maternal grandfather was Rhiwallon ap Cynfyn. She had a brother and two sisters, named Gruffudd, Nest and Margred.  She was the oldest of the four children.  She died before 1136.


Nesta's first family with King Henry ("Beauclerc", "Fine Scholar") Plantagenet I of England

‌Nesta and "Beauclerc", "Fine Scholar" were married in a religious ceremony.  They had a son and a daughter, named Henry FitzHenry and Annora.


Nesta's second family with Owain ap Cadwgan

They had a son named Einion.
