William was born in 1166 in Surrey, England.  William's father was Hameline Plantagenet de Warenne of Anjou and his mother was Isabel de Warenne.  His paternal grandparents were Count Geoffrey ("the Fair", "le bon") Plantagenet IV or V of Anjou and Princess Adelaide (Lady of the English) of England; his maternal grandparents were William de Warenne III and Ala Talvas. He had four sisters named Isabel, Maud, Suzanne Plantagenet and Ela.  He was the third oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 74 on May 27th, 1240 in London, England.

‌William and Maud were married in a religious ceremony in 1225 in Surrey, England.  They had a son named John.
