William was born on December 13th, 1899 in Birkenhead and his baptism took place there on January 29th, 1900.1 2  William's father was Richard Brereton and his mother was Lydia Timmis.  His paternal grandparents were Richard Brereton and Esther Eddowes; his maternal grandparents were Richard Timmis Jnr and Lydia Woodward. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Richard, Frank, Ginnie, Ethel, Elsie and Lillie.  He was the second youngest of the seven children.  He died at 2 months old in February 1900 in Birkenhead.  He was buried on February 13th, 1900 at the Flaybrick Memorial Gardens.1 1
