Ethel was born on April 22nd, 1892 in Birkenhead and her baptism took place on May 15th, 1892 at St. Mary (Birkenhead).1 2  Ethel's father was Richard Brereton and her mother was Lydia Timmis.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard Brereton and Esther Eddowes; her maternal grandparents were Richard Timmis Jnr and Lydia Woodward. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Richard, William, Frank, Ginnie, Elsie and Lillie.  She was the third oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 1 on April 28th, 1893 in Birkenhead.  Her burial was on May 3rd, 1893 at the Flaybrick Memorial Gardens.1 3
