William's father was Sandford Brereton and his mother was Elizabeth Dale. His paternal grandparents were Sandford Brereton and Lydia Turner; his maternal grandparents were Benjamin Dale and Elizabeth Horton. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Sandford, Thomas, Alexander, Lydia, Mary, Margaret and Sarah. Thomas and William were twins. He died at the age of 76 on June 22nd, 1818 in Overton. His burial was on June 29th, 1818 in Harthill.²¹

  Will of William Bruerton therefore of Harthill but late of Overton in the county of Flint Yoeman deceased was proved and admon granted unto Thomas Bruerton (probably his brother, not younger son) one of the Executors power being reserved to Richard Bruerton (eldest son) the other Executor.
  
  Another William Brereton, yeoman died in Overton, 1805. His wife was Martha, and had sons George, Ralph etc.
