Samuel Williams

Samuel was born in 1759 in Broughton (Hawarden) and his baptism took place on April 17th, 1759 in Hawarden.¹²

- FamilySearch has Samuel Williams born at "Moor, Flintshire" in 1764. Moor referes to Moor Lane Saltney, Hawarden (not Halkyn Moor)
  
  Samuel must have been born between 1756 and 1771 (so aged between 20 and 35 when he married Ann aged 23 in 1791). Samuel was a labourer so may expect his father to be the same. Possible baptisms:

Samuel's father was John Williams and his mother was Elizabeth Broughton. He had a brother and two sisters, named Thomas, Frances and Catherine. He was the oldest of the four known children.

General Notes
- The children's Baptism records show Samuel Williams lived at "Moor and Saltney, Hawarden" in 1764 and when the children were baptised. He was the son of John Williams
  
  Son Samuel's first child was buried at Halkyn (near Bagillt). As a Samuel and Ann of expected age are buried at Bagillt, then this is probably them. Although Samuel and Ann are buried in the 1840s, there is no matching 1841 Census record for them
  
  In 1791, another Samuel Williams and Ann Millington were married in Hawarden..

- From 1791 to 1795 Samuel's occupation was Labourer in Saltney.
  - Occupation Notes
    - Labourer from Hawarden when married, also from Moor in 1791, and Saltney in 1793, 1795 and 1800 both part of Hawarden.
  From 1797 to 1799 his occupation was Collier in Saltney.
  From 1800 to 1810 his occupation was Labourer in Saltney.
  - Occupation Notes
    - Abode Moor. Moor Lane runs across the moor towards the Dee, between Hawarden and Sandycroft, just West of Saltney village.
      A labourer when Ann died in 1810.
