John was born in 1769 in Is-y-Coed.¹

Birth Notes
- 1799, John Whitfield of the parish of Is-y-coed married Mary Tomlinson of Gresford.
  
  Probably Erlas, Isy-y-Coed (which is where they lived when the children were baptised)

He died of an unknown cause, No medical attendant, at the age of 83 on November 28th, 1852 in Wrexham. His burial was on December 1st, 1852 in Marchwiel.²³

- In 1798 John Whitefield paid 4s 6d Land Tax in the Township of Dutton y Brine, Holt Chapebry of Tscoyd (i.e. Isycoed), Denbigh, Wales.
  
  From 1800 to 1804 John and Mary, a farmer of Erlas (between Wrexham and Is-y-Coed) had their three children.
  
  In 1851, John (77) a retired farmer was living with his son-in-law John Davies at Cacca Dutton Farm, Isycoed, Cacca Dutton.
