Mary was born in 1767 in Barnhill and her baptism took place on May 20th, 1767 in Malpas.1  Mary's father was Thomas Tomlinson and her mother was Phoebe Owens.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Tomlinson and Mary Otterhead. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, John, William, Patrick, Phebe and Betty.  She was the oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 67 on December 19th, 1834 in Harthill.  She was buried on December 23rd, 1834 at All Saints, Harthill.2 3

‌Mary and William were married in a religious ceremony on July 20th, 1800 at St. Oswalds (Malpas) by Curate James Heaton and witnessed by Randle Tomlinson & Peter Barlow.4  They had four biological sons named John, Thomas, William and George.  They also had an adopted daughter named Phoebe.
