Thomas was born in January 1773 in Broxton and his baptism took place on January 31st, 1773 at All Saints, Harthill.1 2  Thomas' father was Thomas Tomlinson and his mother was Phoebe Owens.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Tomlinson and Mary Otterhead. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, William, Patrick, Mary, Phebe and Betty.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 85 in February 1858 in Congleton.  He was buried on February 28th, 1858 in Congleton.3

‌Thomas and Martha were married in a commitment ceremony on May 11th, 1799 in Malpas.1  They were also married in a religious ceremony on May 27th, 1799 in Malpas by Curate James Heaton and witnessed by Joseph Prchard & Elizabeth Carr.1   They had five sons and seven daughters, named William, Thomas, John, Randle, John, Elizabeth, Phoebe, Sarah, Martha, Martha, Margaret and AnnThomas and Martha were twins.
