Philippa was born on August 16th, 1355 in Eltham, Kent, England.  Philippa's father was Prince Lionel of England and her mother was Elizabeth de Burgh.  Her paternal grandparents were King Edward Plantagenet III of England and Queen Philippa Hainault; her maternal grandparents were William de Burgh and Maud ("of Lancaster") Plantagenet.  She was an only child.  She was buried in Wigmore, Herefordshire, England.

‌Philippa and "the Good" were married in a religious ceremony in 1359 in Queen's Chapel, Reading, Berkshire, England.  They had a son and a daughter, named Roger and Elizabeth.
