Aveline was born about 1248 in Shere, Surrey, England.  Aveline's father was John FitzGeoffrey and her mother was Isabel Bigod.  Her paternal grandparents were Earl Geoffrey FitzPiers de Mandeville of Essex and Aveline de Clare; her maternal grandparents were Hugh Bigod of Norfolk and Maud Marshall. She had three sisters named Isabella, Maud and Joan. She had two half-sisters named Margaret and Maud.  She died on May 20th, 1271.

‌Aveline and Walter were married in a religious ceremony about 1257 in Surrey, England.  They had three sons and a daughter, named "the Red Earl", William, Thomas and Egidia.
