Aveline was born about 1172 in Hereford, Herefordshire, England.  Aveline's father was Roger de Clare and her mother was Maud de St. Hilary.  Her paternal grandparents were Lord Richard FitzGilbert de Clare and Adeliza de Meschines of Chester; her maternal grandfather was James de St. Hilary du Harcourt and her maternal grandmother is Aveline Ales Canamor of Scotland. She had a brother and two sisters, named Richard, Mabel and Elena. She had a half-sister named Avice.  She died on June 4th, 1225.

‌Aveline and Geoffrey FitzPiers were married in a religious ceremony in England.  They had a son and a daughter, named John and Hawise.
