Uchtred was born about 1118 in Carrick, Ayrshire, Scotland.  Uchtred's father was Lord Fergus MacDonald of Galloway and his mother is Princess Joan Elizabeth Plantagenet of England.  His paternal grandfather was King Maldred of Strathclyde and his paternal grandmother is Princess Ealdgyth Morcarson of Northumberland; his maternal grandparents were King Henry ("Beauclerc", "Fine Scholar") Plantagenet I of England and Isabel de Beaumont. He had a brother and three sisters, named Gilbert, Aufrica, Bethoc and Margaret.  He died on September 22nd, 1174 in Loch Fergus, Scotland.


Uchtred's family with Gwynolda of Dunbar

‌Uchtred and Gwynolda were married in a religious ceremony about 1156 in Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland.  They had two sons and a daughter, named Dolphin, Roland and Eva.
