Aethelred, known as "the Unready" (without counsel), was born about 0968 in Wessex, England.  "the Unready" (without counsel)'s father was King Edgar ("the Peaceful") of the English and his mother was Aelfthryth.  His paternal grandparents were King Edmund ("the Elder", "the Magnificent") I of the English and Aelfgifu; his maternal grandparents are Ealdorman Ordgar of Devon and Redburch.  He was an only child.  He died on April 23rd, 1016 in London, Middlesex, England.  He was buried in Old St Paul Cathedral, London, Middlesex, England.
